It's not always easy

It's not always easy to stay calm on the bright side. Lately I've received mail to me from me and when you do that, there is something fishy going on which is very difficult to stop.

So if someone is getting mail from me about something you can associate with the sign you can see below. the e-mails like this is not from me, but some spam phantom being smart.

Other than that I'm visiting my family in Norway for some weeks, so there will be a few pictures from that beautiful part of the world before I decide what to do with my blog and photo album.

Lillesand in South of Norway is one of the places I've really enjoyed to live.

After 3 months in Port Germein it’s time to say good bye. When your family is living so far apart, you will always miss the ones you’re not with. So, I try to enjoy the moments. And there is a lot of them to put in the little treasure chest.

I’ve said it before, I’m grateful for the technological progress that gave us digital photos and Internet. So when not misused, I consider it a blessing. My treasure chest is filling up without being so heavy and I can flicker thru the photos and dive into the memory of my many moments and I can share.

This morning the sun is playing with the salt in the lake and the sand to make a purple veil to put over the colours.

A blue tram in Adelaide sparked memories from my childhood in Oslo. The trams there was blue and we always used the tram.

The weather is clearing up.

My World no 23 - THE FLYING WATER LILY OF WILPENA

Early our last morning at Wilpena Pound it was crispy clear air and a closer look will show you a little frost on the ground,

The weather the days we were at Wilpena Pound was just fantastic.

but it was still a couple of hours before our 1 hour flight.

ARIKA (water lily) is a young woman working at Wilpena Pound Tourist Resort as a pilot. Arika takes tourists on aerial flights from the resort around the pound and on to the surrounding areas. Arika conducts the flights with an informative history of the area and she is a most friendly person and well suited to giving the tourists a great scenic flight.

This must be the most famous view over Wilpena Pound so we also have our own

The north end of the Heysen Trail seen from Parachilna Gorge which means you have the Western Plains to the right. This track is one of the most famous ones in Australia.

Even people of age up here cannot remember seeing this area so green:

We have been really busy for a while. Partly because of a trip to Wilpena Pound in the Flinders Range National Park. It takes time to digest such an event and I feel exhausted.

It was at times very busy on the road.

My World no 19 – The chuck at the Wirrabara Market

Every third Sunday in the month there is a Farmers market in Wirrabara. We passed Wirrabara on our way to Seven Hills last Sunday, but now we want to buy the monthly supplies of bio-dynamic products from the Farmers around Wirrabara. A lot of pictures were taken, Whiskie chose a few and there were a photo not taken, but c’est la vie. I’m fortunate, I saw it and it made my day.

And then, the picture not taken. I had a fresh battery pack in my hand and saw a beautiful takeoff from the market place over the roof were the coffee was served and to the main street in Wirrabara she disappeared.

I went out on the street looking for the adventures chicken, but she was not seen

Not by my little friend here, anyway.

After a while I was checking a certificate the farmer had hung up

Truly eggs laid by free range chucks as everyone could see

If the farmer didn’t bring her back home, she is probably still sitting there?

The weather had difficulty to decide what we should get today, so it was sun over the Port Germein Bushland and dark and threatning over the Flinders. But when you are 200 meters from your home and shelter, it doesn't matter does it?

I think time has come to take shelter.

Not “Lake Collison”, but a new puddle on West Terrace.

Some displaced weed I found out there in the Bushland.

My World no 18 - Seven Hills

We are ready for a Sunday outing to Clare Valley for stocking up at The Seven Hill vinery and to have lunch at the Stone Hut. Be prepared for some pictures. I’m taking pictures in the usual tempo down here, and from around 500 pictures I surprisingly got more usable than expected and some of those I want to share with you. Those not shown in this post you can find in the Picasa album.

Apart from the long streches with this wide and flat landscape and the hugh sky, I’m always facinated by the beauty of the trees and old majestic buildings or sad broken houses. I’ve made sure that the writings on the various signs is readable at least when you click on them to show more details.

The day starts out with an intensily blue sky and small brush strokes of clouds. We are crossing the Flinders Ranges thru the Port Germein Gorge. That’s more scenic then driving down the highway to Port Wakefield. That stretch is now too familiar.

Hi, I'm Tarzan. I have grown up at the little Equesterie Tranquille in La Pène. Today I’m going to my new home at a little villge called Hounoux. Elizabeth says it’s ok and that I will live a life without shoes and bridle and with an owner that loves me. I hope she’s right.

Had not heard of Natural Sequence farming at all, but I got the association to the Eden Foundation project in Niger when looking at a program on the ABC 1 “The Australian Story” telling about Peter Andrews.

Explore the Natural Sequence farming and look at the video on You Tube.

In my post I’m supposed to throw in some pictures and not writing so much. Here are some pictures of weeds. If you feel like it after exploring Peter Andrews Natural Sequence farming and Eden Foundation, the principles behind farming in Niger, give me the rules for pointing out what is weed and what is not. This little flowering plant here is growing wild in many beautiful varieties, but is considered a weed.

My World no 17 - Port Augusta

40 min north of Port Germein is Port Augusta.

Not a big town, but definitly an important one in this great area. Here is the main powerplant in this area west of the Flinders Ranges. A train with 3 locomotives, 170 wagons, and around 3 km long, is coming in daily from the cole fields in Leigh Creek for the energy production. In this area there is not one windmill in sight as there is in the area north of Port Wakefield.

Here is a peaceful view of the new and the old power plant in Port Augusta.

Sneafell – A place on Isle of Man and an unique MC

Sneafell is obviously not just the highest “mountain” (in modern Norwegian language; Snefjell which in English would be snow mountain ) on the Isle of Man, it is also the name of a very unique MC with a sidecar designed and hand made by monsieur François Knorreck.

Here is The Ghan, that has just been in the media all over the world. This pictures are taken by my sister in law, Denise, in 2004. That was the very first time The Gahn could drive all the way up to Darwin from Adelaide and not just to Alice Springs. Of course there was a lot of people from town watching while the train was waiting on the side line at Port Germein station.

Next stop, Royal Adelaide Hospital . We drove past the reckognition ceremony for the Aboriginals that also fought in the wars that Australia has been participating in. I think they are setting up for the ceremony since there where few people there and it was very early in the morning.

Inside the hospital we passed this new dedication made for the people and the companies that has made contributions to this hospital. It was set up in an atrium made for a resting area.

This place moved me because the people at Royal Adelaide Hospital has given my brother back the mobility possibilities back in his left hand. And they have made an ubelieveably good work also. Now it’s down to the training, training, train,…………..They have given another hand back.

Suddenly I was sitting there helping out stitching together a sheep skin mitten to keep the hand warm. And after several appointments thru the day we could finally head for Port Germein. What a journey it has been!
